VY500F Waterproof gate locking magnet
Maglocks require a DC current to hold the magnet to it's armature plate. Waterproof magnets are used on pedestrian gates, or to add additional security to vehicle gates. Side fix magnets are more suitable for fixing to a pedestrian gate post. Face fixing magnets are better fixed to the gate frame. Both types can make use of the Z&L bracket sets.
Gate automation control panels may have the option of a N/C lock output, but it is rare. In any case, the lock needs a DC supply to hold the gate secure which is rare for gate systems. The exception is gate automation using backup batteries, such as solar powered gates, ut at the cost of a relatively high standby current drain.
The holding force quoted is in ideal conditions when the armature plate is perfectly aligned, AND the plate is clean, AND the armature is mounted with the correct degree of movement for self aligning.
Maglocks have two 12Vdc coils. They are wired in series for 24Vdc supplies, or wired in parallel for 12V supplies. It is important to wire the coils to the same polarity, or one side of the magnet will negate the other side.
For 12V supplies, connect +12V to red and yellow, connect ground to black and green.
For 24V supplies, connect +24V to red, connect ground to black, and connect yellow and green together.
